A Non-Prime Wholesale Mortgage Lender Integrates Third Party Web Services into its Legacy Systems

As volume grew dramatically, the client saw a need to streamline processes to increase productivity and decrease data errors. The legacy process was not scaling to meet increased demand and there was a significant risk of leaving money on the table. Moreover, attempts to work around capacity bottlenecks were leading to data errors that had negative regulatory and investor-related impacts. Senior management engaged West Pole to architect and implement a process redesign.

Being Efficient and Accurate Means Never Having to Say it Twice

West Pole's approach involved a systematic and rigorous appraisal of data entry points into the system. Contextual interviews along with time and motion analysis revealed that the legacy process required repeated manual entry of the same data resulting in significant labor investments and negative impacts on data quality. West Pole recognized that the deployment of middleware between the third party web services used by the client and the legacy systems was the answer. West Pole worked with the vendors to exchange system data and pre-populate web forms with existing information.

Better Data Quality with Half the Work

Without having to significantly modify existing processes, West Pole delivered a solution that allowed the client to more effectively service the volume generated by the sales team. Data entered at registration flowed throughout business processes. As a consequence, over 700 labor-days were saved and re-deployed to accommodate growing volume. Moreover, the quality of data transmitted to investors was significantly improved resulting in a reduction in the loan sale rejection rate.
